DMI Executive Director

I am excited to announce that I recently became the Executive Director of Daraja Music Initiative (DMI). DMI is a non-profit organization that teaches clarinet and violin to students at Majengo Primary School in Moshi, Tanzania, as well as aid conservation efforts for the African Blackwood tree. Both clarinets and the fingerboards of the violin are made from the wood of the African Blackwood tree, which unfortunately is commercially endangered. DMI uniquely bridges music education and conservation education.

Sugar Hill Salon Chamber Music Series

I'm honored and delighted to be featured on Sugar Hill Salon's debut live-stream concert. Sugar Hill Salon Chamber Music Series was created by Alex Davis to largely showcase BIPOC performers and composers of underrepresented backgrounds. I am so glad that Sugar Hill Salon is creating a space to present incredible and diverse artists and their art.

Concierge Chat Podcast

I was recently a guest on the Concierge Chat Podcast—alongside hosts Michael Romei and Trish Sanborn, and violinist, Ginny Luke. We discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the music industry. My biggest take away is that the entire world is dealing with this crisis, and that music can be our universal language to communicate hope, inspiration, and love. We're all in this together! And “if music be the food of love, play on!”

Performances Canceled

I am sad to announce that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all concerts and performances scheduled for the remainder of the 2019-20 season have been canceled. Musicians around the world are dealing with this. While this is inconvenient in the short term, let us think about the long term goal. Please be safe and stay healthy. We’re all in this together.

Special Music School Faculty

I am happy to announce that I will be a new clarinet faculty member at Special Music School. Special Music School is a NYC public [magnet] school, and is the only K-12 music specialized school in New York City. I will have an incoming kindergarten and 1st grade student. They will begin on recorder, then progressing from an Eb clarinet, to C clarinet, and finally reaching a Bb clarinet. I look forward to this amazing teaching opportunity, working with incredible young music students.

I feel extremely honored to have been asked to be part of MNN Studio's (NYC) documentary series, Best and Brightest. This documentary basically recalls my entire musical career path and recounts the lessons I have learned along the way. It is definitely a nice documentation of my life in music.
